XP challenges between services—and how not to throw them.

Minigames Guide

Between pre-service, dinner tickets, and eliminations, Hell’s Kitchen 3 drops challenge rounds that pay XP and occasionally swing morale. They are not jokes: a strong minigame streak softens a mediocre cook night, while a Kitchen Demon loss can ding your XP and your reputation. This guide covers every common challenge with practical tips. For kitchen tickets see How to Cook; for season pacing see How to Win; for chaotic service modifiers see Wildcard Rounds.

How to treat minigames in a real season

  • Show up immediately; late spawns waste timers.
  • Play for XP first, emotes second.
  • Remember nominations still watch who tries—AFK in Chop Chop is a vote magnet later.
  • On Difficult nights these rounds are pure progression because power-ups cannot bail your services.
  • Use Controls so mobile and PC inputs feel consistent before precision games like Chop Til You Drop.

Chop Chop

You turn into a vegetable (or similar prey) and must survive Ramsay’s slicing attacks until time expires. Survivors earn XP.

Tips: Keep moving on irregular paths—straight lines are free cuts. Use pillars, counters, and elevation changes if the map allows. Do not corner yourself against the knife telegraph. If you get tagged out early, spectate angles for the next time instead of spamming chat. Survival is a binary win condition: flashy near-misses are worthless if you die with ten seconds left.

Chop Til You Drop

Fruit-Ninja-style swipes. Slice good ingredients, avoid rotten ones, and chain hits for higher scores.

Tips: Prioritize accuracy over wild flailing; rotten hits punish hard. Build short combos you can sustain rather than gambling on screen-wide swipes. On mobile, use short flicks; on PC, smooth mouse arcs beat frantic clicks. When the screen floods, clear the center first so new spawns remain readable. Topping the board here is free XP without burning a single steak.

Dishwasher Dash

Escape upward before rising water overflows the dishwasher. Reach the top for XP; touch the water and you still leave, but with no XP payout.

Tips: Look ahead two platforms, not one. Skip greedy side routes if the water is fast. Jump early on moving pieces rather than waiting for a perfect align that never comes. If you fall once, reset calmly—panic mashing eats the remaining height. Treat this as a clean parkour tax between services.

Escape Gordon

Trapped in a kitchen with Ramsay hunting you. Collect three keys while avoiding his chase. Caught players are out and lose XP.

Tips: Learn key spawn regions instead of random sprinting. Move key-to-key with cover; do not run into Gordon’s face for a fourth unnecessary loop. If he aggroes you, break line of sight around islands rather than racing him in a straight hall. Sound and teammate screams are tells—rotate away from collapsed chases. Helping a friend finish their third key only matters if you are safe; dying with two keys helps nobody.

Feed Gordon

Locate ingredients or dishes on dining tables and deliver them to Ramsay. Highest score wins bonus XP.

Tips: Sweep tables in a circuit, not a random star pattern. Carry efficiently; do not path across the entire dining room for one low-value pickup if a fuller table sits beside you. Watch contested items—lose collisions on purpose if it keeps your route unbroken. This minigame rewards map memory from dinner service; chefs who already know the dining layout dominate.

Gordon’s Feast

Sit at a conveyor and eat dishes outlined in green. Leave red-outlined dishes alone; eating them penalizes your score.

Tips: Patience beats spam clicks. Confirm outline color before you commit. When the belt speeds up, shrink your focus window to the nearest plate. One clean green streak outscores a greedy mixed run full of red mistakes. If you mis-click a red, reset your rhythm instead of rage-clicking the next three.

Hell’s Ragefall

Ramsay stomps the dining floor into chunks over lava. Random pieces fall away; survive as long as possible for more XP.

Tips: Stand on larger safe islands early, then rotate the moment a chunk flickers or cracks. Do not camp edges. Avoid crowding—other players block your escape lane when a tile vanishes. Think one hop ahead. Late survival is mostly calm camera work, not hero jumps across three dying tiles.

Kitchen Demon

Hot-potato rules: one chef holds the Kitchen Demon and must pass it before the timer ends. Whoever holds it at timeout loses; everyone else gains XP. Duration is about one minute.

Tips: Pass early and often when you are near others—holding for style is how you eat the loss. Fake toward one chef and flick to another if the lobby is sweaty. On receipt, turn immediately toward the densest cluster. If you are isolated, sprint toward people instead of hiding; isolation at 0:05 is a guaranteed L. Remember: grief-passing into your only ally right before a nomination vote has social consequences.

Lamb Sauce

Find the sauce boat hidden in the dorms. First finder earns XP.

Tips: Search systematically—rooms, corners, upper floors, behind furniture—rather than following the herd into an empty hallway. Listen for celebration cues. If a crowd already cleared a wing, rotate to untouched space. Learning common hide spots across seasons matters more than sprint speed alone. Even if you lose the race, note the spawn for next lobby.

Obstacle Course

Classic obby with a timer (about 80 seconds). Finish for XP. Lava falls usually reset you to the start.

Tips: Slow is smooth on early precision jumps; bank time for the harder end. After a lava fall, breathe—tilting causes double resets. Watch a leader’s route once if you are unsure, then commit. Missing XP here is fine; missing it every season because you rage-retry with two seconds left is not.

Surprise Obby

Functionally another timed traverse—often framed as crossing from one end of the dishwasher space to the other, related to Obstacle Course energy with a different skin.

Tips: Same parkour fundamentals: look ahead, skip vanity shortcuts, and accept a safe landing over a highlight-reel jump. Use the first attempt to learn movers; the second attempt (if any) to cash XP. Pair mental notes with Dishwasher Dash practice since both punish hesitation near rising hazards.

Priority list when you are exhausted

If you only have focus for a few challenges during a long season:

  1. Kitchen Demon — avoid the XP penalty and the shame vote narrative.
  2. Escape Gordon — keys are free if you stay calm.
  3. Chop Til You Drop / Gordon’s Feast — high skill expression, high XP.
  4. Hell’s Ragefall — survival XP scales with time lived.
  5. Lamb Sauce — quick search if you know dorm layouts.
  6. Obbies / Dishwasher Dash — take them seriously but do not tilt your cooking focus afterward.

Linking minigames back to the kitchen

Winning Chop Til You Drop does not save a burnt dinner service. Use the adrenaline to reset focus: stretch fingers, re-check Controls, and walk into the next ticket with halfway meter discipline from How to Cook. If a wildcard fire awaits, skim Wildcard Rounds during the dorm intermission.

Track Updates when challenge rotations change, redeem Codes so Coin pressure stays low, and treat every XP round as part of the Black Jacket campaign outlined in How to Win.

Show up, play clean, pocket the XP, and get back to the pass before Gordon notices you were gone.

FAQ

Do minigames affect elimination directly?

Minigames mainly award or deduct XP rather than dinner scores, but AFK or grief behavior in challenges still influences how teammates vote later.

What is the goal in Kitchen Demon?

Pass the Kitchen Demon before time runs out. The chef holding it at the end loses while everyone else gains XP.

How do I score well in Gordon's Feast?

Eat only green-outlined dishes on the conveyor and avoid red-outlined ones. Accuracy beats spam clicking.

Are Obstacle Course and Surprise Obby the same?

They share parkour DNA and timed completion goals, but use different layouts—Surprise Obby often plays like a dishwasher-end traverse variant.
